So I have a question my son has about 14 chickens and he's moving from Wyoming to Utah I was wondering about getting an old trailer and making it into a chicken coop would this be a good idea

Would this be for him to transport the chickens? Or are you taking over his flock and looking for housing ideas? Or something else?

No we're moving him down here with the U-Haul and so forth but the trailer would be for the chickens if that's a good idea or if I should build a chicken coop for his chickens he will be taking care of them while he lives in our house

Do you have one to work with or have to find one to buy? Either way, are you thinking of one still useable as a trailer or one that is salvage?

I've seen a few (but only a few) accounts of coops based on trailers that seem to work well at a reasonable price for what they need to do - usually they need to move from pasture to pasture.

^^ yes, I’ve seen descriptions here, probably on this specific Coop & Run forum, about building a coop on a trailer base in anticipation of wanting to move it to a different area of the property one day. Not for transporting chickens down the interstate.

btw OP, many states require vet checks and/or permits to move poultry =livestock) across state lines, so you’ll probably want to get familiar with that. I don’t know the details, but I’ve also seen posts about this.
