Copper Maran 8 weeks old... please help me seperate the Hens from the roos.......

looks like you might have four pullets to me ..... but judging someone's birds other than our own is difficult even with pics .

They all look good !

What is your guess for the 4 Pullets?

I was thinking Lavender, Green, and Peach

Lavender looks like your only possible pullet. The rest are too red in the combs, too early. Pullets don't start turning red until they are close to laying age.

Purple Chicken has next to no Copper but has the face of a Roo.... Will it be easier to tell in two more weeks.. or will it be harder- since the *girls* will be starting to get redder Combs?

purple is hard! my girl looked like a rooster (how she stands) for a very long time BUT didn't have a bright red comb and waddles until just recently. i'm guessing....purple is a hen. how many weeks are they again?

and i'm only saying that because it's comb is nice and small...my girls comb stayed this size until right before she started to lay and even then it didn't get much bigger. it's coloring though has me thrown off a bit

Wait it out...and follow the red bars...you KNOW those are roo's.

As to combs, yes it is concerning, but one of my pullets was larger pink/red early, but also laid early. I thought she was going to be a roo, but glad I waited it out.

My best guess remains Lavender pullet (pretty certain) then wait it out in hopes of Green and Peach....who may be roos or early developing females.

The rest are roosters. Sorry.

At 8 weeks old, even the fastest developing pullet would not be bright red yet.

Magdelaile, off this topic, but I see you are in Inyokern. I'm in E Riverside. How do you combat the heat? I'm going to start a thread, hope you have suggestions!
