Copper Maran x Silkie

My friend gave me a few eggs to fill my incubator. The picture of the chick came out of a dark black copper marans egg and he/she has 5 toes and feathered legs. With copper marans any red in the wings indicates male. This chick is getting red blotches in the wings and I’m wondering if this means male? Any info is appreciated… Chick is almost 4 weeks old

The red coloring that some breeds develop over their wings in males doesn’t come in till much later usually. You need to go more by comb size at this age. I’m on the fence with this one.

Thanks … a hatch mate from a green/blue egg is pretty easy to tell male. I’m on the fence with this one too and I have never had a Silkie so guess it will be a surprise lol
