Yesterday evening, my daughter came running in the house shouting, "snake!". When I got to the coop, the Silkie was dead and a copperhead had her head in its mouth, attempting to eat her. I allow my chickens to free range while I'm home, so the door to the run was open. The silkie was about 12 weeks old and hangs out in the run with another silkie the same age.

I immediately learned on the Internet about a product called, SerpentGuard. Has anyone used this product, or know of anything that's proven to deter snakes from coming in my yard?

Thanks

Sean

I'm sorry.

Very sorry for your loss. The best serpent guard I've found is the hoe or shovel. However, if I have a problem non poinsonous snake, I'll catch it and send it to the local snake farm.

Yes, I forgot to mention that I bludgeoned that copperhead to death with a shovel. I'm hoping to find something that keeps me from having to kill them.
