Corid (Amprolium) oral dose

Are you looking for the oral drench/direct to beak dose that is given in addition to the @ teaspoons of Corid to a gallon of water per day dose?

http://www.poultrydvm.com/drugs/amprolium
says "If given orally, 13-30 mg/kg, once".
Is this correct?

I calculated 0.061-0.142 ml per lb of body weight with 9.6% Amprolium.
Interesting, had not seen that reference before, thanks. The amount I saw referenced on a vet's website was 20 mg/kg, so I would use that as your lower number.
1 / 2.2 x 30 / 96 = 0.142
Looks like your math is spot on!

Thanks. I actually had the drinking water doseage. Google didn't find the oral drench page you provided that I was looking for.

Something isn't adding up for me on the Oral Drench dose rates. Maybe I'm missing something.

Amprolium Liquid 9.6% 96 mg/ml.
Oral dose = 0.1 ml per lb of body weight.
Using 20 mg/kg as the dose rate, that comes out to 0.1 ml per lb of body weight.
20 / 96 = 0.208 ml/kg or 0.1 ml/lb.

Amprolium Powder 20% 200 mg/g.
Oral dose = Mix 0.5 tsp powder with 2 tsp water for a liquid solution.
Then give 0.34 ml per pound of body weight orally once or twice a day for 1-3 days.

0.5 tsp / 2 tsp = 0.25 or 25% reduction
0.25 reduction * 0.20 percent powder = 0.05 or 5%. This liquid solution is now 5% Amprolium or 50 mg/ml.
Using 38 mg/kg as the dose rate, that comes out to 0.34 ml per lb of body weight.
38 / 50 = 0.76 ml/kg or 0.34 ml/lb

So it appears the liquid Amprolium is getting a 20 mg/kg dose, while the powder Amprolium is getting a 38 mg/kg dose. Aren't these supposed to be about the same? The powder works out to be alot stronger, nearly twice as much.

If I use 20 mg/kg as the dose rate for the liquid made from the powder (5%).
20 / 50 = 0.40 ml/kg or 0.18 ml per lb of body weight.

Ah. I forgot about the density conversion. 2.7 / 5 = 0.54 density.
0.18 ml/lb (what I thought the dose should have been) / 0.54 density = 0.33 ml/lb (what you said the dose should have been).

Thanks for the correction. I could use the densities of powdered worm medicines if you have them.

I was actually working on a calculator for them. Just needed the densities of some of them which is non-existant in the msds sheets.

Ah. I forgot about the density conversion. 5 / 2.7 = 1.85 density.
1.85 * 0.18 ml/lb (what I thought the dose should have been) = 0.33 ml/lb (what you said the dose should have been).
