Not sure if my sick guineas have coccidiosis or worms. ( previous thread) 4 have died in 36 hrs. Can I mix the two meds? Or should I just start with the Corid ??
Worried :(
Thx

You can mix the two meds but if you have no symptoms or diagnosis, I wouldn't randomly start pumping meds.
4 dead in 36 hours is rapid loss and should have a necropsy done at a lab. Any rapid loss requires a necropsy unless one wants to cull the flock and start over.
First of all, worms won't kill that rapidly. Secondly, without some earlier symptoms, coccidia won't either.
The problem is most likely viral, bacterial, or fungal; but could be environmental or nutritional.

Cocci IS a quick killer. I recommend that you immediately start them on Corid or you're going to lose more birds. Never mix meds, mixed medications can alter the chemical make up.

Thanks vey much. I medicated the water with Corid. Figured it was worth a try. Will call UF farm extension tomorrow. Sigh. One kinda sick but the rest are fine... Put some DE around and in their food for good measure. The gnats here are awful after all the rain.

The sick ones hunch down on the ground. Won't eat or drink. No breathing problems. They let me guide their beak into water and occasionally drink. Apathetic and docile.

You will probably need to dropper feed them some of the Corid or it won't work if they are not drinking. They sound very sick if they are hunched and not drinking. They will usually stop eating before drinking with cocci, but when they stop drinking, they can get medicated. If you have liquid Corid, you might give a drop or two of undiluted Corid to each of them. Here is a link for you: http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2012/12/coccidiosis-what-backyard-chicken.html
