Corn husks?

Good morning everyone!

Every late summer my family has a corn day where we buy hundreds of ears of corns and peel, boil, shuck, bag and freeze the corn for the rest of the year. Would the husks be useful in the run? I am a little worried about my girls picking apart and eating all the corn hair and it bothering their insides. I thought they might be good for scratching and hopefully attract some bugs for them.

Thoughts?

I dump in shucked corn husks, the corn worms, cobs, and any trimmings that I may have. Mine enjoy digging through all of it. If you have a lot - then dump it in several places if you have room. I do rake/remove after a few days once they have tired of it - mine are confined to run space all the time, so I'm a bit picky at what is left in the run for a long time - I clean up most things within several days in warm weather to avoid anything that may mold.

That said - I've never seen mine really consume much of the silks, but yours may be different - keep watch on them, make sure they have a source of grit (crushed granite/small sharp stones). Check the crops at night for fullness, then first thing in the morning for the crops to be empty.
