Hello all. I recently posted a question in emergencies but no answer. Will ask here. My two and a half month old cochins as well as both adult banty hens all get fresh corn daily. I put a half cob on a plate and sprinkle meal worms on for the babies. This is in addition to their Purina Start and Grow daily. The hens get Family Farm Eggmaker with a sprinkle of cooked corn and a smattering of wild bird seed which they inexplicably love. My issue is this and I don't know how to say this nicely but the babies droppings are coming out looking like black pudding. no white to it, at all. They act healthy are growing like weeds and feathered out nicely so I know it is not a parasite, but am almost sure it is the corn is too rich. I just need someone with more knowledge of feeding to verify.

Hi. Start and grow and other feeds, like, layer and raisers have corn for their base. So, they are getting plenty. Its not the fact that it is too rich it is more like too much. Just as if me and you would eat a couple of green apples it wouldn't be so bad but if we ate more... well you know. There is nothing wrong with vegetables and fruit. Just try and keep this to 10% and this will help.
