I got 12 Cornish Cross chicks yesterday and one has splayed legs so she didn't move much. I used the athletic tape and wrapped it around her legs with about an inch in between them. I didn't know if she would make it through the night because she seemed pretty stressed. She did make it but what happens as she gets older and when weight causes stress on her legs? Will the legs ever be strong enough to support the heavy weight they are supposed to carry for 6-8 weeks?

The legs should be fine.

Be sure to keep the water at one end of the pen and the food at the other to make sure they exercise. That will help with the leg and health issues. If they are growing too fast, you can also offer them feed twice a day instead of all the time too

Thank you for the tip, I will be moving the waterers and feeder further apart when I clean in the morning. I have been pulling their food at night for two days now. In the morning there is a feeding frenzy, poor little things are starving! I think they are growing pretty fast. I got them 10 days ago and I weighed one today @ 9.1 oz. Do you think that is growing too fast? They seem like giants compared to my little Barred Rock Chicks, they are less than half that weight.

It sounds like you are doing great with them!

You will be processing before you know it.
