Hello,
Went out this morning to feed and move my meat bird chicken tractor and found this chicken lethargic, not eating or drinking, and purple comb, wattles, skin, and even her feet. Any idea of what this is? I have her separated from all of the chickens (meat and Eggers).

If the color is unappetizing, soak in salt water, like a brine, to pull the blood out. Also works for Green bruised from fighting. I have heritage jakes I harvest when they start fighting.

Thank you. I was just about to ask about the meat color being darker than normal and if it’s ok to eat still? We got her processed just as she was about to pass. We were able to have some blood drain out but not a whole lot. I’ll soak her in a brine in the fridge.
I appreciate your input so much. Thanks again!

It's just blood and is safe to eat.
Unless your religion forbids eating blood. Then it would be a problem.
The brine is helping! Nope, no anti eating blood beliefs here. Just glad we were able to harvest. Thanks again!
