So I have a pair of cornish crosses, I am planning on penning them up with some other breeds just to see what kind of growth I will get from these crosses if my cornish cross hen starts laying. They are 4 months old... the roo isn't crowing yet but maybe he shouldn't be just yet. I read so much about them not making it to this age, but then I also read that some are lucky to get them to grow up and even lay eggs so I'm hoping the same for my two.
They say that crossing a Cornish Cross roo toa Cornish Cross hen isn't a good idea to take the Cornish cross hen and cross her to another breed which i plan to do but i also plan to cross the cornish cross roo to another breed to see what I get that way as well. I think that the cornish cross pair I have are quite gorgeous actually just large leghorns imo (in the way of looks). I note that my roo took forever to feather out completely he was naked in areas for a very long time... but now only one part of his shoulder on one wing still needs feathered. Wondering when he's going to get his roo hackles and what not. I had another cornish cross roo but he was huge and I was sure he wouldnt make it anyhow so he became a family meal
Is anyone else now attempting this or planning to? If so I'd love to keep in contact with you with your plans and results
