This is our first time raising meat chickens and the death toll is rising!! They are now 4 weeks old, started out with 150 and have lost about half, 34 last night. They do not want to get under the heat lamps, but insist on piing up in the corners. We have rounded the corners, but it hasn't seemed to help. What are we doing wrong?

Have you tested the temperature under the heat lamps? It may be to hot for them. Also how old are they because there is a feeding schedule that needs to be followed with Cornish Crosses.

They are 3 weeks old and most have feathered out. They get all they want to eat during the day and we remove the food at night, I forgot to mention that they are being raised as pastured poultry. We took them out of the brooder and put them outside. They are closed up at night due to coons and coyotes (we are in Texas). I have checked the temp and it seems ok, but we had a cold snap last night and I am wondering if that was the problem. They seem to want to collect away from the lights in a dark corner. Could the dark be a problem?

That is really odd! This is exactly my reasoning as to not have cornish crosses! They are just so very sensitive! As of right now I do not know what the issue is but I will continue to think about it!
