Cornish cross questions

My Cornish cross 3-4 week old seems to be very lazy and appears to crawl and lay around rather than be active like
the other mix of breed chicks in the coop. It has grown very fast. No problems eating, drinking or defecating.....any thoughts on this?

Cornish cross are bred for one thing, to get big and fat, fast and then be processed. They aren't active like other chickens - they just eat and eat. You could do a search for cornish cross on BYC for more info. I think they have to have food limited at some time during the day because they would eat themselves to death. If they aren't butchered early they rarely make it to a year because their hearts can't handle it.

! Great to have you with us! Nope, sounds like the Cornish X is just being a Cornish X. As drumstick said, that's how they are bred.
