Chicken's carry diseases that don't hurt them but can kill quail. This comes up now and then on the quail threads and it's all most always discouraged.

There are some structural things like 5-6 feet of the ground in some places. Is it a problem if there are roosting bars or do I need to do something to make sure they don't use them?
Thank you!!Cornish Cross have two problems with roosting bars:
1) they get so heavy they cannot fly up to the roosting bars
2) if they do get up, they can hurt themselves when they come down
At that height, your Cornish Cross will probably never get up on those bars. And if they never get up there, they never need to get back down, so that's not a danger either. I think it should be fine to leave those structural things where they are.
