Evening Everyone,

We picked up some cornish cross chicks at one feed store than a couple weeks later picked up some more at another. Different chain stores. One store listed them as cornish cross and the other was listed as cornish rock. I thought they were considered the same. But these two groups I have are growing so much differently. even though they are 2 weeks difference the size is so much different. So my question is....Is there different cornish cross at different rates or did we possible get a different breed?

Thanks in advance,
Colleen

Cornish X are specialty bred fast growth birds with early processing age and short life span. Cornish Rock are generally a slower growing bird that have a more normal longevity.

Sourland is right. Cornish X get very heavy extremely fast. By a few weeks they become so heavy they can actually collapse under their own weight. They get a lot of health issues and tend to suffer if they aren't butchered past a certain point. So sorry. You can ask the feed store if you can trade, maybe.
