Is your coop fox-proofed? He may not have paid attention this time because you gave him a shower, but he 100% knows it's there.
it's as foxed proof as i can get it. their run is between 2 concrete block sheds with a block wall in the back of it, so it's concrete on 3 sides.
the roof has corrugated roofing on top of hwc.
the front is framed out in timber with 2 layers of hwc going up a metre from the bottom. one layer up to the roof.
i put leftover roofing on the front of that for the winter.
there's a hwc skirt, also pavers.
and in front of the front of the run, i have a very not secure "flu fort" which is a pop up gazebo covered in chicken wire. i just put that there when they started a housing order for bird flu so they could have a bit more (supervised) room. we're planning on building that properly because it's really, really handy! but for now, at least it's one more layer a fox would have to get through to get to them (the easiest layer).
also, i have the camera in the run and one on the shed on the side, so i go out every time a fox appears! then i sleep (sort of) on the couch, which is right by the door, so when he comes back i can get out quick.

last night, i was unprepared and was out in my long johns shouting and clapping my hands and violently squirting him with the hose.
