Cornish feather in grey? **update with better pictures in last post!**

I'll get some better pics for you all today...I also have no idea what hatchery this guy came from because he is from the feed store...

If he's not a cornish X, I hope he is a she

It's certainly built like a CX, but I've never had one feather in another color. I can't wait to see how the chick grows. If it keeps growth with the CX, it could give a clue as to something they cross into the CX.

That is a cornish x. We have gotten them before. It can be caused by the inoculation the egg receives before being placed in the incubator. It was explained to me that sometimes the embryo will begin to develop due to the hen delaying laying the egg a day or two. These eggs rarely survive before entering the incubator, but on rare occasions they do. When they moult they will be white.

I was really thinking he had to be a Cornish X cause he's a monster...bigger than any of them, and stands up so straight and tall..ready to take me on any time I go near the brooder...

I have had some with flakes of grey... but never like that. Interesting.

I've seen a lot too... I've seen a chick hatched with no eyes... that was a weird one. Recently... I just placed an order with Ideal and one of the ducks are blind as a bat.. he gets around and eats and drinks just fine. Hangs right with everyone else. However I can walk up to her put my hand in front of her and she will not even move. When I pick her up she freaks out too so it's not like she is used to me. Plus her eyes are cloudy.

Genetics... really weird.
