cornish pics

can you show me pictures of your cornish birds? im curious about the breed and am considering geting one. Are they good with a mixed flock? Do they do well with kids? when you order them from a hatchery do they have those red faces that breeder ones have? Is it true that they can be noisy?

Cornish tend to pair up if given the chance. The roos escort their hens around during the day and roost next to each other at night. Hatchery birds won't really resemble the exhibition birds at all.

I would say they are average on the noisy scale. When they are laying some make a fuss. I have one hen who seranades me with the 'eggie' song sometime. I will be looking at another bird and Katy will show up--"Eggie, Eggie, Eggie." It's pretty cute.

They are not fast birds, and once you pick them up once or twice you can usually just walk up to them and they won't try to get away. They are strong though. I have one rooster whip me with his wing and draw blood. They generally do not peck, and I have never had a roo try to spur me. I don't know about LF Cornish for small kids, just because they are so heavy and a real armful--they get worried if they think you are going to drop them and don't like to be squeezed. I think bantams would be great for kids.

. ok now i have some more questions. Do you think a cornish would be agressive to the other hens if they were the only cornish in a flock of silkies and cochins? What is different from the breeder cornish and the hatchery cornish?

The Cornish breed is generally not aggresive at all so it will be fine with the others
