Cornish Rocks Cannibalism

I think they just learned they can kill and eat each other. Maybe they just prefer that than waiting on the feed when they are hungry enough?

I was using Dumor starter. But just got the starter/grower today. That is the same chick feed I have always used on my layers. I like that the bags are made of the woven plastic, rather than paper that tears. Maybe they are just lacking something nutritional? But I have never had a problem with it until now.

I was so worried about the legs and other issues, I was scared to give them as much feed as they wanted? Should I even worry about that?

Yea I am going to order from a hatchery next time. I want to try it at least a few more times before I give up on it.

I have tried the red rangers, never ate them, but I loved their personalities. They just didn't grow as fast or get as big.

Maybe its a good thing I hate the Cornish Rocks. That way I have no problem butchering them.

They sound big enough to slaughter now.

They need broiler starter, over 20, better 22% protien.

That must be the problem. I checked with the local feed store and Tractor Supply and all they had was the regular chick feed, 16-18% I think. The only feed higher than that is a small 5lbs bag of game bird/showbird 24% feed that I use to start my turkey, peafowl, quail, and guinea babies on. And it's like $9 per 5lb bag, so it's not very realistic to raise broilers on.

Yea they are decent sized now. I am just going to go with it and see how they turn out. Instead of risking any more losses.

Tractor supply here has broiler starter. If you tell them you need it yours might get it.

I looked it up and found this. I'll try this type next time I attempt to raise them.
