I'm looking at a add for live chicks at our local Tracktor supply co and i'm interested in the cornish rock chick as a meat bird but the picture of them show the cockel is black
and the pullet is dark brown with some black are dark colors . I thought cornish rocks were always white and are the black one a good meat bird fast growing like the white ones.

I'm guessing that the picture is of a pair of dark cornish, a wholly different bird than a cornish rock cross. Cornish rocks have been made by crossing white rocks and white cornish.

If you're looking for the classic fast growing meat bird, cornish cross are white/yellow as babies and turn white as they feather in (where they grow feathers, that is! Mine are little nekkid butts!). I'm guessing the ad is a misprint
