We have five cornish x's we are wanting to butcher for game hens. They have been on medicated feed up until a week ago. How long do they have to be on unmedicated for the cocci medication to be out of their systems?

The coccidiostat that is in the feed is not a true antibiotic so the withdrawal time is not much. I believe your good after a day but I would wait at least 5.

When i asked about feed a week or so ago. i was told switch away from anything medicated at least 2 weeks prior to butcher.

but one thing to note. the chick starter i had them on for about 2 weeks due to shareing a brooder with the layer chicks, is only 17%. so they were slow to feather because they were missing that last 4-5%. the meet bird feed i use is 21%

The stuff medicated stuff we were giving them was 19%. Now the older (six week old) chicks are on a duck, goose. chick & gamebird starter/grower, non-medicated, 21%.
