I have 16 Cornish X chickens. They were 6 weeks old yesterday.
I have been feeding them 18% protein Start and Grow. SInce I moved them out of the brooder I have been feeding them one time a day. SInce they have started cleaning up all their feed between feedings I started with 1 gallon of feed per day.
I since moved up to 1.5 gallons and I am at 2 gallons of feed per day. I switch over to 24 % broiler feed last week.
These chickens are the best looking flock of broilers that I have ever raised. I have not weighted them yet but they look great. I have always kept feed in front of them 24 hours a day in the past. I generally lose a couple of birds. I have not lost and this time. "knock on wood".
My question is, am I feeding the correct amount of feed or should I bump it up or cut them back?
Thanks!
Darin
