just wondering when is the earliest time to butcher my cornish x?, i am so discouraged from ever getting any more in the future, and are fryers better?

We did our cornish rocks at 12 weeks. People here have suggested to me 6-8 weeks and/or roosters being aout 8 pounds dressed and hens being 6 pounds dressed.

At 12 weeks my roo was about 8 pounds and my hens were about 7ish pounds.

i have cornish cross that are 6 weeks old and they will definatly be her for another 2-4 weeks... they are averaging about 4 pounds each.. this is our first batch ever so im playing it by ear!

thanks guys....unfortunitly we had to butcherd them on the 9th at 6 1/2 weeks...... i started out with 17 cornish x , lost 7 of them do to mMC ways of shipping, lost a few to to natural couses, but went to the coop on thursday mornng to start farm chores and walked in to the most horrifing scene, 2 of my hens were disenbowled and still standing....after running back to the house to get my husband to help we descoverd a 3rd one like that, soall in all out of 17 hens we got 5 in our freezer......i don't think i'm ever going to try to raise meat chickens again!

I have some cornish cross. were they disembowled because they ate too much or was there some other reason. Now I'm worried!!!

I am new meatie raising, Ive got cornish xs they are 2 weeks old and soo different from my eggs layers. I hope they are normal, these are my concerns.
Dirty really dirty.
seem to breath heavy, their whole body and especially their bottom heave.
lay down to eat.
wont walk much
dont scratch about
wont eat anything but the feed
lay about so much that there is bare skin on the bottoms and belly
Hope Im doing this right. I dont want them dying off before I take them to the butcher.
Is this normal?

That seems about normal to me. The disenbowled part is NOT normal.
