Coronation Sussex Thread!

In answer to my own question, yes. I put two batches in the bater (have 7 looking good, some on day 14 some on day 8), and she started to sit, 5 days after I took the second batch from her, she is sitting on 5!

When I say mine weren't good mommas, they were just fine until the chicks started to pip. That's when momma decided to squash the eggs. I managed to save 4. This little guy only just made it.

Well, one hatched in the bator yesterday. The ones under the hen are due to hatch Sunday, she got locked out while stretching her legs a week in, but I candled them last night and they appear to be fine? So we will see. Hoping at least one more hatches inside so this little guy has company!

My hen hatched all 5 of the eggs she was on, and I snuck the one out of the bator under her, although he was 3 days old. She is brooding all six and so far is being a great mom.
So how does a hen hatch eggs that were left for up to seven hours and get 100 percent hatch rate, and with controlled temp and humidity we never can?? lol

How can you tell if they will be coronation or light? I have no idea if mine are splits they are ggf stock is all I know? My roo is molting, and I put the bag down to spread some starter food for them as mom won't move them very far. Thanks.
Here they are about 3/4 days old.

If they are lights, they will start to get black hackle & tail feathers around a couple of weeks old. Coronations take longer. If both parents are Coronations, then they most likely will be also. I think the lavender color is recessive, so breeding 2 recessives together, will always give recessive.
