I cant figure out which I have! I recieved chicks from a friend. They itch like crazy and squeal when they itch their eyes BUT they also occasionally have a little sneeze. They are too young for me to see if there is a worm(s) in their eyes. I have tried a few times. When I tried to clean up one of their eyes with hot water and paper towels, the corner and bottom of the eye swoll up.

What is your general location on the Planet Earth?

Is this the first time you've ever raised chicks?

Have you asked the person who gave you the chicks if they have noticed signs of respiratory illness in their flock? Runny eyes and nares, sneezing, trouble breathing?

At first the swelling looked like fowl pox, a virus spread by mosquitoes. Is it hot where you are and are mosquitoes out? Eye worms are very rare, mostly in tropical regions, such as Hawaii. But respiratory diseases can cause eye bubbles and swelling around the eyes and face, sneeze and gasping. If the seller suggests antibiotics, I would probably return them. Most respiratory diseases are contagious and will be in your flock forever. Not a good way to start out with chickens.

Yes. I am in a tropical location so fowl pox are very probable. We have constant mosquitoes. These chicks are quarantined and my actual flock is vaccinated for fowl pox and a few other diseases. I am just trying to help a friend get to the bottom of the issue.

I cant figure out which I have either! I recieved chicks from a friend that are quarantined. They itch like crazy and squeel when they itch their eyes BUT they also occasionally have a little sneeze. When I tried to clean up one of their eyes with hot water and paper towels, the corner and bottom of the eye swoll up like a balloon! Help!

Where are you located in the world?

Can you get photos of the chick's eyes?

Any bad odors?
