Cost of backyard quail raising

I've spent $911.53 so far this year. That's including business license, egg handler's permit, a new pen, fly traps, feed, eggs, and every expense I can think of.

I've earned $1030.00 by selling birds and eggs. This does not include eggs or meat that I have eaten or have in the 'fridge/freezer. Net gain of $118.47 so far. Not bad for a hobby.

How many quails do you start with and what kind of housing?

I have anywhere from 15-100 quail (I hatch and sell a lot). They're in pens on the ground. I have a growout pen and a small coop too. Those aren't included in my costs because I spent that last year. I think I spent about $500 for my 2 pens & coop.

This information Is awesome. How hard was it to get the egg handlers permit?

Oh sweet. So you think it’s worth it? We’ve contemplated quail. We are in Florida.
Let me do the math on just eggs that I've sold...
$267 in eggs. This includes eating and hatching eggs.
Oh, my expenses also included registration of the domain merriquail.com.

Very much worth it. Do you get your quail from a hatchery or get eggs? Sorry for all the questions just super interested.
