You said you have barred rocks- roosters or hens? Barred rock rooster over a non-barred hen creates a black sex-link, and the chicks can be sexed by their feather color. This may be beneficial to you, and people will always pay more for sexed chicks.

I have 11 barred rock hens (2 don't lay), 16 austrolorp hens, 4 lavender orpington hens, 2 lavender orpington roosters, 1 barred rock rooster, and a barred rock x austrlorp rooster (who's shooting blank btw)

I wing sexed the new batch of bareds as babies and predicted 1 boy (even though they were supposed to be all girls. The lavender ladies were straight run and I prdeicted 2 boys and I was right again.
