Cost of Eggs by State January 2010

It seems to me that this will vary a lot by area, not just by state. Did you take a poll and average the amounts? I would like to know how you compiled your information.

It seemed the same to me, so you will note that some information will say "Nebraska, north east" and some will simply say "Texas". What ever information was given to me is the information I posted.

No, I did not average anything - I simply posted the notice that if folks wanted to let me know where they lived and how much they were charging for eggs, I would be glad to compile the list alphabetically by state/area.

Nothing scientific or in depth - simply asking for information on this site from its members. If you would like to take it to another, more mathematical level, please feel free to do so. My intent was to provide a GUIDE for all those folks (me included) who were trying to determine what they might be able to sell their excess eggs for.

If any further info is posted, I will update my list.

Oh, i was just curious. Thanks for responding. I don't have any eggs to sell yet, so i'm just being curious. 2 - 2.50 sounds good to me for my area, but i will have to look into it further. I think, and this might be unfair, that i can probably sell for a higher price to the families in some of the more posh communities than i can to other country bumpkins like myself. It's a marketing thing. So while i might sell my eggs for $2/dozen near where i live, i think i might be able to get more like 3.50 if i work it a little in other areas.

Not a problem! I hope you find the info helpful! It makes sense to me that within any given area you have some folks who are willing to pay a higher price than others, and there is nothing wrong with marketing your product to those different areas. One gal posted recently that she actually got $15.00 for two dozen eggs from someone who REALLY appreciated farm fresh eggs! That won't happen nearly often enough (anyone who raises/cleans/feeds chickens feel this is a moderate price! LOL!) but when it does, it is a GREAT thing! Good luck when you get to the point of selling!
