Cost of feed

Calling around the different feed stores around me, it seems the going price for either a broiler starter or turkey/wild game starter (anything with protein > 20%) is around 16.50 a bag. Does this seem to be what every one else is paying for their meat birds?

Also, does anyone have any suggestions for best place to buy chicken feed anywhere in the North East Texas area?

I found a 22% game feed that finished my broilers nicely for around $12/50 lbs made by (I think) Fairway Mills (something like that, it's a local mill). Check into the game bird lines...I had to add a little fat (I used corn oil) but other than that it was perfect.

All I can say is that the feed prices are going up. It's darn ridiculous. Everything is going up since the gas has started going up.

Feed prices will be some what regional so it's hard to say from one state or area to the next. Where I am at, I paid 18.99 for 50 lbs of gamebird starter with 28% protein. Just paid 13.99 for 50 lbs of standard 16% layer.

I think it's high all over. A 50# bag of start n grow is $16.00 here.

For the batch we just raised it was 13.89 to 14.10 depending on where and what we got of 50 pound bags.

I just paid 11.95 for a 50# bag of un medicated chick starter/grower. I foget what the protein level was. This was in Waller, Texas outside of Houston.

i just bought 23%protien feed for $9/50# but its going up to $10 i think

I live in Alabama, nearly on the MS state line. Chick starter in 50# bags is running 10.25 to 15.95 where I had priced it.

Yesterday I found a Purina dealer (by accident) in Columbus, MS. Their starter was 9.95 for a 50# bag. I had a coupon for 5 bucks off a bag of feed thanks to Mt. Healthy. (They sent the coupon with my chick invoice.) So I thought that was a great price!

Layer pellets run anywhere from 9 bucks up to 14.95. The Purina dealer is getting 11.45 I think.

Gamebird -- sorry, I don't have any or a current need for it, so I don't have a clue.

Feed just went up $2+ a bag here. I paid $12.47 for layer feed! at my normal 40 bag purchase it is up at $11.57/#50.
