Cotton for brooder bedding?

I would say....no. It would hold moisture..and they might eat it, and get sick.

You might be able to use cotton rags.
I think some people use shop cloths/rags?
When they get messy just wash/dry and re-use.

Never used it for chickens, don't have any chickens yet, but...have used it for sick small animals when I managed a pet store. Regular loose cotton (such as you would get in bulk, not cotton clothing) doesn't work well, tends to tangle around their legs. Also, since a chick's legs are not smooth, it would probably stick even more.
