There is something called- I believe- Gossypol (?) and it will make the yolks green. I also remember something about uncooked cotton seed being poisonous to animals. But I am antique and dementia is creeping in. I would google it. Ifas-university of Florida poultry will have tons of info.

It's mentioned here to cause pink whites, Olive or Salmon colored yolks, mottled yolks, and thick cheesy yolks.

Well, the oil, crude oil, and meal. I don't know anything about cottonseed.

My dad always said that cottonseed oil shouldn't be eaten because cotton isn't a food. Therefore, the pesticides and herbicides they use around it might not be food grade.

I don't know how true that is, but would cottonseed meal be free from toxic residues? I'm just posing the question to you for you to think about if you wish. I don't know the answer.

Cotton is pretty much GMO now, so I would not feed it to my birds.
