Cotton seed ?

Does anyone know if cotton seed is safe for chickens. My dad has found some and asked me if it was safe?

I would wonder how it had been stored and kept to be sure it was not contaminated. If it were not being intended for food, its cleanliness and freedom from chemicals might be questionable.

It was for cattle feed.

It can effect the eggs in layers and may not be a good idea.
