Cottonmouth in chicken pen

I use a strong mixture of garlic and water sprayed in and around the runs. I seen this on a tv show a few months back, and thought i would try it. I have not had a snake in the coup sense then. Get some garlic, mash it up in some water. Filter the mix into a spray bottle, then add more water once filtered. It is better if you let the mixture set overnight. Then spray in and around the coup.

The only problem is once it rains a good bit, you must reapply the spray.

I made a snake stick with a hook on the end and have a water cooler I put them in.
Throw em in the back of my golf kart and drive them a mile out and let them go...
I never have return snakes...

hope you catch it or scare it away

I use minnow pots or eel pots ( the old timey round kind ) they are fond of fish here where I am in the Dismal swamp NWR LOL like someone else said bird netting for fruit trees works well too

Thank you all again for your help. I'll try a combination of all the tips. I will also try the snake hook too.

There have been other posts about snakes and people have suggested:

- Minnow traps
- Golf balls
- Hard boiled eggs
- Wasp and Hornet Spray
- Rolled deer netting

We saw our first snake in the coop yesterday; too bad for him because our girls have not laid any eggs yet! Thanks for the ideas. We are going to try the minnow traps with fake eggs outside the coop and put up smaller wire around the bottom half.
