I grow them out to butcher size if possibleHaha well I had 2 sellers eggs in there and while I marked them as eggs to check the hatch rate, I don't know which chick is from which seller. The other seller was selling pearls as well though, so it was a probable guess. I have several that look nearly the same but are different shades which is hard to get on camera. I keep meaning to line them up but they're currently in the mood to test out their wings and I don't want to race my chickens/dogs to catch the escapee first. It won't matter much if they're roos but I'd like to know the hens' colors so I can get a better feel for the genetics I'll have kicking around once I start breeding.
I honestly have no idea what to do with that chick. It got stuck in the egg too long so I assisted it out. I gave it vitamins for its curling and it straightened up but when I put its curled toes/clubbed foot into splits the neck curled back up. It has lovely straight toes and lovely straight legs and an 'S' shaped neck. It eats, drinks and poops, doesn't seem to be bothered or in pain, alert and normally responsive - just looks super funky and is growing very slowly.
Seems like a reasonable solution. I don't really want to keep it as a pet, although I suppose if it is a hen I could see if it lays. Either way, it doesn't need any special care, so it's no biggie to grow it out a little longer.I grow them out to butcher size if possible
I would say A has a better chance of being Blau, but you can’t know for sure. C and d look like a gray (silver, Blau, lavender) with roux and fee.Ok, I've parred the hatch down to about 13 quail and am just waiting for them to be sexable. I have 4 that are very similar in color and hopefully this will be the last post LOL.
A. is the one that was tentatively labelled a blau before. Very muted gray color but a blue undertone. Darker colored markings on the face.
B. is the one I've been calling silver but looking at pictures it might be a lavender? It is very bright and clear - very blue. I have 2 and they are the same shade.
C. no idea - I'd call it a blue-fawn if it were a mammal. Very soft gray-brown with cool undertones.
D. snowie? The bars are almost the same color as C but lighter. There are 3 of them and they are mostly the same, no off shades
Interesting. I figured they were all some shade of "blue" - I don't think anything I kept is feather sexable so I've been waiting for crows and eggs. I kept 2 red range, 2 tibetians, the autumn amber, the [faker] pansy + these "blues." I suppose once they start giving eggs it might be easier to figure out what genes are at playI would say A has a better chance of being Blau, but you can’t know for sure.
