I would like to get more tuxedos from my rosetta tux.

If I breed him to my rosetta hens (who are not tuxedos) will I get tux everytime or isn't it dominant? I just hatched out two little tux chicks (I think they are girls if the light colored beak thing is true, which seems to be true with my other tibetans-anyone else have luck with that method?).

Also, is there a color chart on the site somewhere that lists what colors to breed for certain colors?

Thanks

Tux is recessive, so crossing him with the rosettas won't get you more tuxes unless some of them are carrying tux as well. The easiest way to get a tux is to cross a tux with a white, or a tibetan (rosetta or dark) with a white.

If you had a 1 roo, 3 hen line of what are called tux. Would all of their offspring be tux, without throwing in a Balivian speckled breasted perch?
I'm not trying to breed Tux per say, but if I did combine tux of any combination of colors, with tux...Would I get a tux only line?

Tuxedos are made up of 50% tibetan and 50% white. So if you breed tux to tux, you would get about 50% tuxedoes, 25% whites, and 25% tibetans. The only way to 'make sure' you have only tuxedo chicks is by breeding a tibetan to a white. Tux to white would give you a better percentage, but you'd still get the occassional white chicks.

So Canter, are you thinking about getting some tuxedos, or do you already have some?

Thanks Shelly. Now I just need to find some tibetans.

That answers my question quite well.

No, I don't have any tux yet. I was just wondering if they could be developed as a line just in case. I think I have one ingredient though.
If I did have some, I do know a guy not far from here that I could probably get a mint from.
