Coturnix in lockdown, when should I become concerned?

I ordered from strombers and they just sent me a email 2 days ago saying their hens laid eggs and they were sending them and would be here in 2 or 3 days. Should see them bby tomorrow :D if they hatch I'll let you know and if your eBay does not work you can try them. Best of luck

Hope you have better luck than me. 4 were cracked and I took out a few more that obviously never developed. I have 6 in the bator now. I'm trying to distract myself so I don't check on them every 2 minutes

Don't worry I checked on chickens every two minutes when I was hatching and still do. Strombers from what I hears send a few extra eggs when you order to compensate for the possibility of cracked eggs from shipping. Well I will see by tomorrow :D

I'm curious to see. I did get extra eggs with my order which was really exciting. And a good thing considering only 6 are in lockdown LOL

That must be a bummer how many did you order? After I get a Handel on coturnix quail I plan to order a few different mutations. I saw a few pictures of a silver coturnix and it was beautiful and I want one :D I found it interesting how. Many different types there are

I'm the same. That's how I ended up ordering the golden Italian. Very pretty. I ordered 10 eggs and got 15. It is a bummer but I knew the risk I was taking with shipped eggs so I'm not overly disappointed. If I wasn't warned ahead of time though it would be a totally different story lol I don't think I've seen the silver ones but there are a lot of different colors. I saw an auction for rare color mutations that I thought was interesting but I haven't finished my first hatch of quail yet so I didn't want to get ahead of myself

For me the only option was to order eggs. i searched all over town for some fertile eggs and there were only a few people with quail and very few of them breed them and they only did it seasonal.

i got the picture from this thread.

I find them beautiful

Wow. I agree. Gorgeous! Might have to go in search of a few of those too eventually. When I was looking for eggs I only found one person selling them anywhere local but could never get a response to my emails. So I ordered online. Now that I've got eggs I find tons of ads from people selling them near me. Just my luck lol

Lol. i read online that the silvers are not avaible in the US yet (read that a year ago) i hope they are now

My luck is just plain bad with no quails for sale anywhere near me :(

Thank goodness for the internet right? Hmmmm I may message some of the sellers I've seen on craigslist and see what colors their coturnix are. And cross my fingers for a response this time. Well I know birds can be imported but I imagine its expensive and there's probably a lot of red tape to get through. Someone is probably going to make a good profit on it if they ever (and hopefully they have already) bring them over. I know I'd pay a bit extra for the neat coloring
