Coturnix not laying (7 months old)

I agree with JJ. Had some like that here, put some christmas lights in the cages and wow a week later started getting some eggs. I did the egg test first, no egg eaters. It is fustrating to say the least to have that many bird and no eggs.

I would suggest just letting the hens grow another week to 8 weeks. Lights are important, but eggs from a 7 week old coturnix hen are really pushing it! You can spotlight the pen, but 7 week old layer coturnix hens are really pushing the envelop of coturnix myth!

Lets find something constructive to do for a week or two!

they are 7 MONTHS (+/- 28 WEEKS) old.

Ya Know What? Just For Giggles Try Putting A Bright Light On Them For An Extra Oh Say... 4 Hrs In The Evening Just To Make Sure They Are Getting Enough Light. At Least Thats What I Would Try Before I Started Over (or While I Was Incubating The Next Batch...)

That And If You Can Get Your Hands On Some Eggs I Would "eater Test" Them

I will see if they'll eat chicken eggs (probably not a good analog, but that's all I've got), and maybe try lights.

That's easy...you are not properly feeding, or lighting your birds....NEXT?

How many christmas lights would it take? (3' x 6' pen)

JUST GET A LIL 15 FT STRING OF THE WHITE LED XMAS LIGHTS AND WRAP THEM AROUND THE TOP EDGES AS BEST YOU CAN. I USE A LIGHT SENSITIVE TIMER CURRENTLY SCHEDULED TO COME ON AT DUSK AND GO OFF IN ABOUT 4 HRS. (TAKES ALL THE WORK OUT OF LIGHTING EVERY DAY) OR IF YOU HAVE A BIG LOTS LIQUIDATION STORE NEARBY LOOK THERE FOR THE UNDERCABINET FLORESCENT LIGHTS... THEY'RE A SINGLE BULB FIXTURE ABOUT 14 INCHES OR SO LONG WITH A DIFFUSER COVER... THROW 1 OF THEM UP IN YOUR PEN UNDER THE ROOF... WORKS LIKE A CHARM SO LONG AS ITS BRIGHT AND NOT SOFT LIGHT--- SOFT WHITE LIGHTING IS MORE YELLOW/ RED SPECTRUM LIGHT--- THE BIRDS LAYING TRIGGER IS TRIPPED BY BLUE SPECTRUM LIGHT (LED OR BRIGHT FLOURESCENTS WORK IN THIS SPECTRUM)

Ok, fair enough. Since JJ is helping you out with the lighting...What are you feeding your birds, and does it contain any iceberg lettuce, or overly processed wheat, including but not limited to White/wheat bread?
Are you feeding at least "Game bird rations" Hopefully Game bird starter 28-30% protein?

Are you living by coturnix general order #1....Perpetual Sameness? In Star Trek terms..."The Prime Directive".

A 7watt incandescent night light in a 10x10 burned from dusk till dawn will solve lighting problems. Just high enough to let them see to eat and low enough to not cause aggression.

What are you feeding your birds and are their any other variables anyone that really wants to help you out needs to know?
