the guys I know that train dogs don't like cotournix after about 4-5 weeks...up to that point they fly pretty good but tend to get lazy as they get older...

bobwhite are the main ones used for release hunting...the other birds scaled, valley and such just don't breed as well in captivity so tend to be priced higher...folks also use chuckars and pheasants...I know several trainers that like to use homing pigeons...they return to home!
