We have one english white quail hen with noticeable chin feathers, that hang down at times and lay up against her throat at other times. the other quail that we have do not have them.
I like it, is it normal? desireable? she is a handful.
I will try to get some pictures after work.
thanks. TD

I am working on bearded/tufted Jumbos right now.

I haven't seen it on whites, but it's possible

I find it desirable for what I am doing, but many people raise these birds for meat so the colors and weird traits are not what they look for.

Alexandra, Do you find the bearded trait accompanying the sizeable bird in the browns? Is it an indicator or linked? Or are you breeding so that it is, so that you can easily identify what stock would throw large progeny?

What happened was the beards were showing up in my largest stock so I selected them and bred them to each other. These are 15 ounce males and a bit on the lazy side.

and that I select for the birds to have 13+ ounces by 8 weeks of age to be keepers. I am going to have a standard pen once again...
