Coturnix quail eggs are on day 19?

I've hatched ducks and chickens out of my incubator and have never had any problems. Recently I bought some coturnix quail eggs from a local farmer. Put them in my incubator right temp and humidity. I was told day 17 expect them to hatch. My incubator this round has malfunctioned wildly, it spiked once hitting 105, it's dropped for periods to 97. It seems it's ran more cool than warm. It's day 19 for the most part the incubator has righted itself and has been stable. I've candled the eggs and most are alive. I see movement, but they haven't pipped or made any progress? Have you ever had something like this happen? Normally I would of thought they would all be dead. Will the lower temps cause them to hatch late? What is late for coturnix quail?

Hi there, I have hatched Coturnix quail before, the most recent hatch i had most hatch on day 17, I tend to keep the incubator running until i know the chicks are dead in the shell. And right before I went to clean it out I had 5 more baby quail that hatched on day 22!! They are normally weaker if they hatch late... do u have a still air or forced air bator? If u have forced air you want the temp to either be 99-100, but if you have a still air bator you want the temp to be 102. And yes lower temps make a drawn out hatch, but you don’t want super high temps that could make them hatch too early and might have not fully absorbed their yolk sac

It's a forced air, it's running at 100-99 degrees

If you have another thermometer you can stick in your incubator because most time the incubator thermometer reading is wrong, and what’s your humidity at?

It also depends on how you refer to the days. I count the day I put eggs in the incubator as day 1. Therefore, 18 days later when they're supposed to hatch, that will be day 19. Which, I thought my eggs were hatching a day late until just recently and realized they were hatching right on time. Day 19 isn't that unusual as it may sound. Also, if it is a foam incubator like a Little Giant, I had terrible luck with reliability and consistency. Built my own and works amazing.

The day you set them is day 0. Day 1 starts at the exact the time that you set them the next day, and so on.

Wondering if you ended up having any luck with this hatch? Today, I’m finding myself in the same position. 😓
Well, it was a tough, I ended up with only one hatching, but don't give up, if you candle them and see life, be patient. There were some that piped but never hatched. Just be patient some could or will hatch, it was day 22 when the one and only did.

oh, I’m so sorry to hear. 🙁 Thank you for the encouragement! I shall cross my fingers and toes, and I hope you have had a happy and healthy hatch since!
