i was recently given six coturnix quail eggs to try, so I could make sure I liked the taste before raising quail. As I cracked them to make fried eggs, I saw about half of them had yolks that were pretty much solid instead of liquidy like a chicken egg. It was like they were dried out. I threw those ones out.
Is it usual to have quail eggs do that? It would make quail pretty inefficient if half their eggs were not usable
(The ones that were normal were very good. I'm hoping this is atypical, perhaps caused by the eggs' small size and the 100 degree temperatures we've been having.)
