Coturnix Quail Eggs From SamG347-Hatch Day!

Mine started to lay between 5.5 and 6 weeks.

Out of those 4, you SHOULD have at least one male and one female... save up the eggs for a week or two, incubate more, and voila'! You have more babies.

Not that I'm enabling or anthing...

Congrats on getting at least 4! Out of my 50 coturnix eggs I have one chick. Not sure what the heck to do with it now. LOL We are on day 18 also. How long are you going to wait for more to hatch? How long have others had to wait for these guys to hatch??

Tori; Thanks I can't wait till they start to lay.
That is the very reason I asked, I want more!
It would be great if I got one male and three hens.
But I don't think I will be that lucky.

Pam; I think I will give it at least 2 more days.
I wish you luck with the rest of those eggs.

Just one so far, that's a drag. Poor little thing all alone.

I hope your others hatch as well!!!

I just recieved my 25 from Sam this morning, and I am happy to say none were cracked! Boy that made my day!

It's amazing the size difference from the Jumbos to the Pharoah Coturnix quail eggs, and ofcourse nothing compairs to the Button Quail eggs ha ha!

My button quail eggs are the oldest, ready to hatch on sunday or monday here....

My Pharoah Coturnix are the second in age due to hatch on the 17th or 18th

and my newbie Jumbos well they'll be due to hatch just a few days later from the Pharoahs... I can't wait to see the difference in chick sizes from the normal Coturnix to the Jumbo coturnix he he!!!!

Niki

The jumbo chicks are what I call "chunkier" than the non-jumbo variety. They're my "little chunks"

Pam, this last hatch took an entire extra week... just let it keep going until you have 3-4 days of inactivity. Every time I thought they were done, I'd see another pip... I hope you get at least one more so you will have a buddy for your little guy!!

Joe, you'll know in 3 weeks what you have... the males will start getting a mostly salmon colored breast with a little speckling at the top and sides, whereas the hens will be speckled all the way down their breast.

Here's a male...

Niki; good luck on your hatch!
Sounds like a lot of watching. I can look at them for hours, so much so I put in a CCTV camera and record every movement in the bator. I will post a video of one of them hatching in a little while.

Tori; thanks for the info and picture.
I just paid a visit to your website.
Very nice job on that!
Well I'm hooked on this hatching thing!

So I am going to have to get some of those button
eggs from you! Do you have any you can sell me?

Joe...sorry more didnt hatch. I dont know why. Fertility has been pretty good. But there are a lot of variables when it comes to hatching shipped eggs. Are you trying them in a homemade bator as well?
Give them acouple more days...

Hey Sam, I know it's not your fault, they were packed very well. Like I said they had a hard trip getting here.
Some of the eggs were crushed not just broke.
So 4 is not bad.

Yes the bator is a 54 qt. igloo cooler.
I will give it more time, it can't hurt!

Right now all the Buttons are promised until a ship date of Sept 8th. If you can't wait that long, you might check with Marie Martin - she has some beautiful Buttons, too.

Glad you liked the website... it's a work in progress (don't think it will ever be done!) so suggestions/observations are welcome!

Like Sam says... wait a couple more days.
