Coturnix Quail Hatch Along

A teeny bit late as some chicks have already hatched, but I’ve decided to do a hatch along for the rest of my eggs!

I have 4 eggs being put into lockdown today. Everybody is super excited for these chicks as they’re from a favorite hen. I have 27 more eggs incubating. They were shipped, and I am not very hopeful they’ll hatch well. I think they were sitting for around 2 days because the seller was too busy to ship, and then they were in the mail for 3 days. The eggs seem oddly shaped and such as well. Disappointing, but hopefully some hatch.

Here are the 2 chicks that hatched 7/26 and 7/27! These are the first babies from my own flock! They are siblings. Super friendly little chicks. The kids love them! They’ve started naming them after Pokémons haha

All 4 eggs looked good for lockdown! Now we wait… impatiently

Zapdos and Chunk have been keeping everybody entertained. Sweetest chicks I’ve ever hatched out!!! I’ll try to get pictures of my flock sometime soon

So, I think at least 2 of my celadon eggs quit. Disappointing since I was only sent 6 celadon out of the 27 eggs, and I was super excited for them. I’m supposed to get some black chicks from this too, so I’m really hoping they didn’t quit as well. I have a feeling I am going to be super disappointed with these eggs though. Hopefully they surprise me and hatch well.. they were expensive!!

Nothing from the eggs in lockdown. I hope to see some rocking soon!

Woke up to 2 babies! I think a third egg is rocking as well. So excited!! I have to get pictures

All four eggs hatched!
Three little yellows, and a darker chick with maybe some white. I’m waiting until they dry a little more to get pictures. Super curious to see all these guys feather out in a few weeks!

All 6 chicks are doing well! Trying to figure out colors.. I’m not too good with guessing at this age. Like seriously.. I’m always wrong. I’m such a nerd for animal color genetics, but for some reason quail are hard for me to understand

Is this chick on the right some sort of fee? Super cute little guy. I believe Zapdos is a pearl.. or something Not sure what Chunk is, and the other 3 are yellow right now.

They are so cute! I have no idea either, I can only identify pearls and wilds, but I'm still sometimes wrong with that! Idk what yours are.
