I have pigeon loft sections that are 5.5foot by 10foot. Would there be any reason why you couldnt keep quail in there? I have any empty one and was curious about quail. If you quail guys had that much space how would you decorate? Potted grasses? and a bush or two? This section has a full size door and a 3 foot by 3 foot window opposite the door. Would the quail bolt every time I opened the door? I wonder if there would be problems keeping a few in with my pigeons? There are alot of bugs in pigeon hay litter.
how bout winter time in KY? are they ok in the cold?

they may run out but i doubt it. They dont perch so you can clip their wings if you'd like because they only fly when spooked and they can fly VERY well! LOL!

they'd be happy in an area like that i say get them! come to the OTHER dark side

decorate it how you see fit, the more you make it seem like a natural environement the more you'll be able to possibly convince them to naturally brood!

You can keep a good bit of coturnix in a set up like that

I used to keep quail with my pigeons that I had in a ground aviary. Everything went just fine until a few pairs of pigeons decided they wanted to nest on the ground, and the quail came and laid eggs in their nest

In a loft, nest boxes should be off the floor anyways, so there shouldn't be any problem. Just keep an eye out for those overly aggressive cockbirds who may try to scalp a quail or two. So yes, the quail should love an area for themselves, and if you want a few in with the pigeons, all should be okay
