Hi All,
My question is this- is it ever ill advised to consume the eggs if the hens are less then well???
I have done a large amount of online research and it would seem a few of my girls have a mild respiratory ailment.
Just a small, infrequent cough. NO other symptoms. NO discharge. NO odor. Normal in every other way. Better than normal...egg production is sky high. And they are getting quite annoyed by my constant visits to the coop to check on them today.
Hopefully, this will resolve quickly..I will use some acv, etc. Unless there are other symptoms I do not think antibiotics are needed, right?
Have kept a flock of about 20 or so birds for at least a decade and this is the first illness. ( No, they are not 10 years old- you know what I mean!) Have lost some to old age and plenty to predators but never dealt with illness. Nothing has changed. Coop is clean and well ventilated, feed is standard, water is plentiful. They are outdoors in a very large yard all day.
I do have a new batch- peeps about 3 weeks old. Separate coops- but not separate enough if this is airborne...wish me well, please, on that score.
Thank you for any advice.
