i made the door on the small size because i was expecting to get a roman although a toulouse arrived instead

and then these are the nest boxes so do you think my goose will be ok with flying into them and will she fit of?
they are 16" by 18"

I think geese like to nest on the ground and in a place where they can see what's going on. our old pair nested under the chicken coop. the whole back of it was open so they could watch everyone all the time, but it was dry and cozy for them and their nest. the gander also helped brood the eggs.

She probably won't use the nest boxes and will find herself a nice little corner to lay her eggs. Geese have a really big wing span and trying to fly into one of those would be complicated. (But she won't even know that she's being deprived of a nest box.. Mine love their corner nest.) And how big is that door? Seems to small or like a very tight fit for a toulouse. How big is she now compared to it?

That's a really nice coop, though! It makes all of mine look like abandoned shacks.

the door is 1 1/2 ft by 1 1/2 ft and she is the production toulouse type not the dewlap type
if she wasn't able to fit through i could always carry her into the run every morning and back into the coop each night i guess

i was just thinking that if the goose lays the eggs on the floor and it breaks do they ever start the habit of egg eating or is that only chickens?

My emden eats all the egg shells on the eggs that have been accidentily broken by the geese. She seems to be the only one that likes them.

I don't want to rain on your parade but I doubt that any goose will use your door or nest boxes. Muscovy ducks would love them however. geese don't like to duck to go through doors. I had to build my straw bale shelter two bales high before they would use it. once it was built each goose selected a corner for her nest and they would let the gander rest between them if he wasn't in the doghouse for something he did to upset them. geese are never going to jump or fly that high for a nest she might break her eggs if she tried...

Yeah, your chicken house is gorgeous, but none of my geese have ever gone through a small door. Doesn't mean yours won't. They seek shelter but want to be able to scan their environment. People shut their geese up all the time but I think they have to manually place the geese within

I'd sure give it a try, she'll be safer in there for sure. As far as nesting, she'll want a spot on the floor with deep straw so she can bury her eggs when she's off the nest. It's just as likely she'll try to nest anywhere but in the chicken house and you'll have to move her nest a few times before she gets the picture. I gave up trying with my goose but I'm a weenie.
