I know everyone on here is dead set that it can't happen BUT I had a false positives on a pregnancy test several months ago, I had a 2 pack and took both tests (I have done it before and made sure everything was done correctly). The lines were super faint. I don't know why it happened. The positive line showed up , so DH and I made a dr appt to get a blood test, started the planning on how we were going to tell everyone and where the baby would sleep (we have 2 kids already and 2 bedrooms, someone was going to have to share), names....the whole 9....4 days later, my normal period came and that was it.
The doctor said that they could have been evaporation lines, they just show up as the urine passes on the screen or a chemical pregnancy, which is when you catch the pregnancy way early and your body miscarries for whatever reason, then your normal period comes. Most women don't even know that it has happened.

I am guessing that this isn't that common, so I would probably go to the doctor for a blood test!! That should let her know one way or another!

Okay..thanks everyone. I'll pass all this info along.

Pregnancy tests don't give false positives. Only false negatives. Sounds like your friend is having a baby. Not expecting one can sometimes really throw a gal for a loop too. Expecting to never get pregnant, then being pregnant... How is she handling it? I wasn't sure I even wanted my son til I felt him kick me.

I had a false positive a few years ago, my sister in law was in the hospital and she has had a complete hysteroctomy done and her dr. came in and asked us if there was anyway that she could be preggers and we told them NO and he said that she was showing a positive blood test and there was no way. so they ran more test and they still came up she was. we have no ideal how that one happened. but mine was from hormone inbalance. after we got that lined out everything was fine. No baby had myself fixed 17 years ago after I had a miscarrage of our little boy.

Well, my sister in law was told she'd never have children - said she had some genetic thing where she "killed the sperm" somehow when it entered her body.

After 12 years of marriage she got pregnant, they had a son - he's in college now.

so yeah, it's possible.

like everyone says she hould hurry to the dr. but before ya ll start buyig diapers, someone wasright. its not really a False positive, but not really a pregnancy.... your body can Think its pregnant, and start making stuff as if it was, but when they do the sonogram, theres no actual baby. i cnt remember what itscalled. but on the other hand after i had my 1st dd 10yrs ago, my dr said i wouldnt have anymore babies, and in reality i get pregnant when my dh LOOKS at me, lol!!! may it turns out hope she hopes.

I have had false positives and a false negatives with the things over the years. So yup they can be wrong. I have a 25 year old to prove they can. hahahaha
