I have one hen, about 5 months old. It's a bearded EE. This bird shows no signs of tail or saddle feathers, but is always solitary from the rest of the flock. (1 rooster, 11 hens). This bird chases off smaller birds, and the rooster is always trying to fight it. Is this bird just werid or could it be a passive rooster trying to mask himself to fit in?

You can post a picture but no, a rooster cant pretend to be a hen. Sometimes when there is a more dominant rooster then any other rooster will not be as dominant. Sometimes hens dont submit to the rooster and that makes the rooster think shes not part of flock so he attacks her.

Sometimes even with girls, a rooster will try to chase off ones that seem like they can put the flock in danger. One of my pullets has that happen all the time unfortunately
