could a snake take 4 eggs a day?

I know snakes are out. I relocated a 6 foot rat snake yesterday and saw a 3 foot kingsnake on my driveway today.
And, come to think of it, my 5 hens have only laid about an egg a day. Really? could a snake be taking 4 eggs a day and leave NO trace? I visit the coop 3-4 times a day and have never seen a snake actually IN the coop, or near it.

Tomorrow I will put scrunched up netting around the next boxes.

How do I know if snakes are eating my eggs?

Snakes are not fast operators and generally not so ravenous. If you are in the coop so frequently, you would most likely see a snake large enough to eat the eggs. Most snakes do not eat every day, either. Personally, I would put up the netting to know for sure, but I would be more suspicious of the hens themselves.
