Could incessant broodiness be a sign of a reproductive disorder? Or a hormonal imbalance?

She looks a lot like that but she has a dark head and yeah, I'm sure it's the Orp in her that makes her so crazy broody. But I don't need any more babies! Maybe I should try to sell her to someone who needs a committed broody. But ... I named her Atilla for a reason. If you try to get near her chicks she will rip your hand off and poke your eyes out as well!

Thanks, am familiar with it. Have read aart's* description of the method, imagine they are similar?

I thought once she raised a brood or two, her egg-laying hormones would kick back in, but that hasn't been the case. I've done battle with determined Orps before and ended up culling them as it became obvious I wasn't going to win. Those poor girls were in and out of broody jail over and over again and it just did no good at all - and none of those three were anywhere near as dedicated as my Atilla.

The natural process would be to lay a clutch of eggs then brood, so to keep brooding with out laying does mean the hormones are not balanced right. On the other hand, hens that lay and lay and never go broody do not have the hormone balances that would be needed in nature either.

I'm sorry I can't write anything helpful, but I wanted to ask where you got your inspiration for her name? It's almost the same as a Hunnic/Hungarian male name Attila, and I've never heard any similar names outside of Central Europe before so I'm very curious! ​
